This is a series that should have gone somewhere but, sadly, didn't. It's basically military action-adventure set in (what was then) the near future (2005) and involving submarine technology now on the drawing boards. Among other things, the U.S. managed to buy up a couple of Typhoons (you know, the BIG suckers) from the economically strapped Russians and turn them into submarine carriers.

I got to play around a lot with concepts like heavier-than-water fighter subs that literally fly through the ocean, and blue-green laser imaging technology for viewing the boat's surroundings, all long before SeaQuest DSV came along.

Note especially the covers by John Berkey, my favorite cover artist.
