Title............................................................. Year.....
ISBN.......................... Publisher These books are fairly fast-paced and combat intensive. Those of you who remember and like my BattleTech books will probably enjoy these as well. They've been remarkably enduring works; all three of these novels were anthologized into a single volume, but you'll have to read Russian to enjoy it. I've also done two Bolo short stories and quite a bit of Bolo art. I well remember being entranced by the original Bolo stories by Keith Laumer, back in the '60s, and the privilege of working in and extending Laumer's universe is still a bit overwhelming. One of the big challenges in writing these books, though, is updating the computer and AI technology to present-day specs. Our understanding of how computers and computer intelligence work changed quite a bit in forty years! (Not to mention how much it's changes since the publication of these books.) In this I owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to my good friend Dave Plottel, who, in his words, "makes computers sit up and beg for a living." When working on the Bolo books, I work out what I want to say, then run it past Dave, who makes comments and suggestions. He's saved me from several serious goofs already, as well as contributing several neat bits that would never have occurred to me. Thanks, Dave! All text copyright (c) William H. Keith |
